“The most important thing I think people should know in working with Jaclyn is how non-judgmental she is. She has years of experience eating this way and loads of science/nutrition information, but I found her calm, relaxed and caring attitude just as valuable.
The initial struggle I had was understanding all the options available to animal products. There is a lot of information, recipes and science/nutrition facts out there, which can be overwhelming.
I learned how to swap out animal products and replace them with plant-based options for some of our family's "go to" meals. I felt more confident shopping for and preparing plant-based meals. I also learned how to be aware of processed foods and to check sodium content on anything packaged I was buying. I lost 4 pounds in one month. My palate changed early on (within 10 days or so) to where refined sugar (processed chocolate snacks like M&Ms) no longer tasted very good.
I learned that changing the food you have been eating for the majority of your life is a process. It does take time for the body to adjust and the gut to create the right kind of bacteria. Some benefits are seen early on and others may take some time.

I started my plant-based life change quickly, I had my doubts at first but, I decided to try it for a month. Well, my life changed!
When I started working with Jaclyn, I was still eating meat, dairy and eggs pretty often! I also did not sleep well, and "bragged" that I could take a nap at a red light because I was always tired. I do walk a lot because I have a dog that needs to get out, but I had no real energy for regular exercise.
I kept a food journal and talked to Jaclyn regularly about different things to eat. Total surprise to me, I wasn’t ever hungry. After about three weeks, I felt much more alert during the day. Jaclyn gave me lots of meal ideas, snack ideas and grocery lists. I never missed much of anything, there were so many alternatives, even cheese. The adjustment was very natural. Jaclyn was always so supportive and full of knowledge.
As I write this, it’s been five months, I feel so healthy and I’m sleeping really well. My blood tests show my cholesterol is lower and the biggest change is that I am no longer taking daily pre-diabetic injections. A life change? Yes! Worth the effort? Absolutely! When I started working with JacIyn, I was forgetful and a couch potato. Sometimes I became depressed and would try to “eat” my way out of it, that never works. Jaclyn started slow with me. I started vegetarian, then pescatarian and finally made the jump to vegan. I was completely comfortable with her help & constant support. I loved her food swaps & recipe suggestions.
